Abducted!
By Michael Belfiore
Directed by Stephen Montagna
Guerrillas in the Midst, a brand new theatre company to the Madison area, invites you to their inaugural show, a one-man show by New York-based actor/writer Michael Belfiore. The play is an X-Files riff on alien abduction stories, pitting an agent of a covert U.S. Intelligence branch against an alien being, both of whom occupy the same body. The alien, in turn, plays host to four human personas it has "robbed" from human beings. The result is a cocktail of egos, experiences and opinions that gets both shaken and stirred. Ray Dvorak will provide the single body that these differing, conflicting beings inhabit.
Using minimalist production values, such as a bare performing space with a single chair, and nothing but his own body and voice, Dvorak morphs into the different personas creating three-dimensional characterizations with good old fashioned skill. Choreographer Kathleen Conklin lends her extensive movement backround to Dvorak's own training in southwest Indian martial arts to create a fully embodied performance.
Produced by Guerrillas in the Midst in the Evjue Theatre at the Esquire, 113 E. Mifflin Street, just off the Capitol Square.
