Madison Opera Center
Madison Opera Center is located just one block from Overture Center’s Stage Door; our new home is both our artistic home and our administrative home. When not in rehearsal, a larger rehearsal hall, rehearsal studio, costume shop, office suite, and kitchen space is available for rent.
Description of Performance Area
The Millie & Marshall Osborn Rehearsal Hall – 4,600 square feet of rehearsal space, with a sprung wood floor, high ceilings, and large windows, and a grand piano
The Kay & Martin Barrett Rehearsal Studio – a 650 square foot rehearsal studio with an upright piano, perfect for smaller rehearsals
The Costume Shop - Over 1,000 sq ft; including 3 fitting booths
The Lau & Bea Christensen Office Suite – our offices, two meeting rooms, open work space, and more
The Michael Klos Music Library – featuring thousands of opera and classical recordings
Backstage Space
The rehearsal hall and studio are open spaces, therefore there is no backstage space proper.
Wing Space
The rehearsal hall and studio are open spaces, therefore there is no wing space proper.
Fly Space
The rehearsal hall and studio are open spaces, therefore there is no fly space proper.
Sound Equipment
You are welcome to bring your own sound equipment.
Lighting Equipment
You are welcome to bring your own lighting equipment.
Projection Booth Information
There is no projection booth.
Box Office Services
You are welcome to provide your own ticketing.

*PLEASE NOTE: Rates vary depending on the nature of the event. These rates are for general standard rehearsal usage. Special events or performances that have heavy public traffic in a short period of time, are held on evenings and weekends, require Opera staff supervision, or need additional set-up, will carry a higher rate, subject to discussion and the Opera’s discretion. Renters MUST CARRY proof of Event Insurance. Please inquire about renting the Costume Shop, Office Suite, or Kitchen.
Seating Capacity
207 white plastic chairs can be set up for an additional fee for the hall. 40 black chairs can likewise be set up for an additional fee in the hall or rehearsal space.
