Once Upon a Mattress

By Mary Rodgers

Directed by Charles "Skip" Grover

In this modern take on the old Princess and the pea fairytale, Queen Aggravine proclaims that her son, Prince Dauntless the Drab, will only wed a true princess of royal blood. Princess Winnifred, a most unconventional princess, arrives dripping wet, having just swum the moat, and declares herself a contender for the Prince's hand. The Queen, shocked that this impudent, vulgar girl would have the gall to claim to be a real princess, devises a clever test to prove Winnifred is no princess. Meanwhile, the prince has fallen for Princess Winnifred and the only one who knows is the cursed, mute King! Madness and mayhem ensue in this delightful musical comedy!
