Jesus Christ Superstar
By Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Weber
Directed by Andrew Sharp
This is a classic depiction of Superstar; the music is based on the original concept recording from 1970. Christ is portrayed by Brett Frazier of Madison, who looks just like Jesus and sings like a cross between Ian Gillan and Ted Neeley. David Saperstein, a former professional actor, plays Judas as an engaging, electrifying, and tortured tool of the Almighty and sings almost exactly as on the album. There is a cast of nearly 40, a full band, period costumes and a set that looks like a Roman temple. The lighting was designed by a theater professional. The goal is to bring the original recording to life rather than to place the show in a modern, gritty context. This is a must-see for Superstar lovers and will endear the show to those who have never seen it before.
