Autumn Heart

Remembrance and reflection will inform Kanopy Dance Company's 2001/2002 Season opening concert of modern dance, Autumn Heart. This concert dedicated to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001 and to their loved ones. The concert will be comprised of new work and dances from the repertoire of company choreographers.

Choreography for the program will include works by Lisa Andrea Thurrell: Festina Lente to the music by Arvo Pärt; For Persephone Ate the Pomegranate to Circle Dances for All Seasons, composed by Vicky Tzoumerka-Knoedler; and, The Maw from Howl by poet Allen Ginsberg with music by Lee Hyla, Aullis Salline, Astor Piazzolla and John Lurie.

Robert E Cleary's work will be represented by his Eva in Her Garden to Isoldes Liebestod, Mort d"Isolde, by Richard Wagner; his Water Music set to Georg Fredrich Handel's Water Music; and the solo Nothing Else Matters to Metallica's music by Hatfield and Ulrich.

The premiere of Ann Christiansen's Trio will be performed by Robert E Cleary, guest performer Kiro Kopulos and Christiansen. William Owen will design the lighting for the concert. Kanopy Dance Company members include Christine Angevine, Ann Christiansen, Robert E. Cleary, Allison Espeseth, Jennifer Jett, Rachel Kravitz, Drew Smith and Lisa Andrea Thurrell, Artistic Director.

The concert will be held at Music Hall on the UW Campus, November 9 and 10 at 8 PM.

Tickets are $15 General Admission and $13 for Students and Senior Citizens and are available at the door. Contributions to the United Way September 11th Fund or the Disaster Relief Fund of the American Red Cross will be received. Advance reservations are advised; call 608-255-2211.
