Festival of One-Minute Plays

Produced by Playwrights Ink

Playwrights Group Follows Great Bard's Advice to Extreme

If brevity, as Shakespeare said, is the soul of wit, then Madison theatergoers should enjoy more than a few laughs when Playwrights Ink brings its Festival of One-Minute Plays (or thereabouts) to the Brave Hearts Theater in July.

The local playwrights group hopes to prove that brevity is also the soul of pathos, melodrama and tragedy, not to mention farce, black comedy, absurdist drama and surrealism, when they present their 37 very short plays by 11 different area playwrights at Brave Hearts, located at 1988 Atwood Ave.

The show, Playwrights Ink's first full production, will feature a cast of six, minimal lighting and a mostly bare stage, to showcase the group's new work.

Thursday through Saturday, July 10-12, 17-19 and 24-26, 1997. Curtain time is 8 PM.

For tickets call Brave Hearts Theater at 249-9299.
