At The Box Theatre Company (formerly Theatre on Main) we offer quality youth and community theatre for Southeastern Wisconsin. With mainstage and junior productions produced yearly, we maintain a standard of performance that frequently sees our theatre ranked among the top companies in the region. History

In 2005, Theatre on Main established its roots in the heart of downtown Oconomowoc, renovating the building once known as the historic Snyder’s Department Store into Oconomowoc’s first theater! It had meager beginnings, with stackable chairs and the stage on the floor. Eventually, the configuration of the venue changed, and the stage was elevated. In 2009 some major renovations took place, with permanent theater-style seats being added and a ticket booth being built.

But over time, not only did the theater’s physical appearance change, the quality of its productions changed as well, turning it into an award-winning theater, attracting new talent, production staff, and a renewed vision for the future. It became very clear that Theatre on Main’s current space was no longer efficient for its purposes, and the search for a new venue ensued.

In the summer of 2014, the site of Theatre on Main’s new home was found at Oconomowoc’s Brown Street Market Place. Pole-obstructed views, floor level seating, and a lack of parking will be a thing of the past. The new facility ensures that every guest will have an unobstructed view, stadium seating, wheelchair seating, and a plethora of parking right outside the theater doors! Combining the best of the old along with new, Theatre on Main will continue its mission to produce high quality entertainment and provide its patrons with a rejuvenated exciting theatrical experience!

The New Theatre on Main, winner of the 2012 and 2013 "Best Theatre Group" in Milwaukee on the WISN A-List, is dedicated to providing top-quality entertainment, new playwright opportunities, educational workshops and community events. Around 2018 the theater was renamed The Box Theatre Company.
