River Arts Center
The River Arts Center was established in 2000 as a comprehensive cultural center. The partnership of the Sauk Prairie School District, River Arts, Inc., and the Sauk Prairie area community has worked to provide a place to present and appreciate the arts. With a 492 seat theatre, a gallery and meeting space, the River Arts Center presents a wide variety of the arts, as well as serving as a place to host business and social events year round.
Located only 18 miles from Madison in the picturesque communities of Prairie du Sac and Sauk City, the River Arts Center is only a few blocks from the downtowns. An evening of theatre or a visit to the gallery may be combined with a day of sightseeing in the scenic and historic area on the banks of the Wisconsin River.
The River Arts Center is available for rental with a knowledgeable staff available to answer your questions or provide insight and expertise needed to make your show, meeting, or presentation exactly what you want.
Description of Performance Area
The River Arts Center has equipment available for rental to meet most every need, including pianos, stage lighting, sound system, audiovisual equipment, lectern and a serving kitchen. A listing of qualified theatre technicians is available. Custodial staff is also available to assist with preparation before and after the scheduled event.
Not for Profit groups may be asked to submit proof of tax-free status as defined by regulation of the federal and state governments.
Theatre
The River Arts Theatre is a 492-seat proscenium theatre designed to handle the wide range of events required of a modern theatre. It is equipped with a full range of theatrical lighting and sound. The lighting system uses the latest computer technology and the audio systems, have the flexibility to accommodate your presentation needs. (Please note that a trained and certified member of the River Arts Staff or a qualified technician must be on hand if you plan to use any of the lighting, audio, or rigging equipment.) The theatre includes a scene shop and dressing rooms.
The stage itself sites behind a 49 9 wide by 23 4 tall proscenium arch. With 35 feet to the back of the stage, there is ample room for any show or event. It has a full-height fly loft with the necessary rigging. The sizable apron in front of the main curtain provides perfect space for lectures, presentations, or award ceremonies. The apron is the removable top of an orchestra pit, and can be removed should you need the pit. In the lobby is a box office, available for you to use for events in the River Arts Theatre.
