At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before we realize that if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder. Tony, the son of a rich, uptight family, the Kirbys, is in love with the Sycamore's daughter, showing up at the house with his snobbish parents in tow on the wrong evening. Choas ensues as the two families clash, but in the end the young couple wins out over their differences, and Mr. Kirby is converted to the happy madness of the Sycamores.
