Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
By Edward Albee
Directed by Patricia Thom
UW-Rock County’s University Theatre will present "Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" on Feb. 11, 12, 13, 19 and 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kirk Denmark Theatre on the campus at 2909 Kellogg Ave., Janesville.
Pat Thom, Senior Lecturer of Communications and Theatre Arts, is directing this Edward Albee play. H. Gene Biby, Assistant Professor of Communications and Theatre Arts, is one of the play’s stars in addition to UW-Rock County students Kristin Gulotta, Molly Soyck and Kevin Garfoot.
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? won both the 1963 Tony Award for Best Play and was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for that year, but wasn’t selected for the second honor due to the profanity and sexual themes featured in the play, which centers around a middle-aged couple who drunkenly tear each other apart in front of a visiting couple. Elizabeth Taylor won her first Oscar for her role in the film version of this play.
The play is intended for mature audiences. Tickets are $6 for UW-Rock County students and $8 for the general public. Tickets are available at UW-Rock County Business Services, by calling (608) 758-6565 ext. 200, or at the door before the performance.
