The Opiate of the Missus

By Doug Reed

Directed by Deanna Reed

Religion and politics collide in the newest full-length comedy by Doug Reed, creator of "The Lamentable Tragedie of Scott Walker." It is 1954 in America: a time of tailfins, rock 'n' roll, and McCarthyism. Red-baiting Congressman Willie Moore's re-election campaign is going swimmingly - until his wife hears the voice of God and climbs up into a treehouse to try and hear it again, far from the "sensual distractions of the mortal world."
