The Mystery of Irma Vep
By Charles Ludlam
Directed by Laura Nicholas
The Lake Geneva Theatre Company returns this summer with Charles Ludlam's award-winning comedy to downtown Lake Geneva. This definitive spoof of Gothic melodramas, recently revived Off Broadway to raves, is a quick-change marathon in which two actors play all the roles. We will even feature a werewolf and vampire for good measure.
What the critics have to say about the play:
"Far and away the funniest two hours on a New York stage....What more meaningful gift could Ludlam bequeath [audiences] than to leave them eternally laughing." N.Y. Times
"A really good laugh ... The story has to be seen to be believed." N.Y Post
"Lunatic fun that keeps you in stitches." N.Y. Daily News
"A true vaudeville tour de farce.... It's wonderful." Time
"A hearty mixture of thrills, laughter and extravagant showmanship." Village Voice.Produced by The Lake Geneva Theatre Company at Historic Horticultural Hall, 330 Broad Street, Lake Geneva, WI 53147
