The Emperor's New Clothes
By Karen Boettcher-Tate, adapted from Hans Christian Anderson
Directed by Steve Kovacs
The Emperor’s New Clothes, based on the tale by Hans Christian Anderson and adapted by Karen Boettcher-Tate, is set in the kingdom of Glump. The hypochondriac emperor and his daughters are obsessed with their wardrobes while the rest of the kingdom is in shambles. When a pair of con artists creates clothing for the emperor made of “magic cloth”, the people of the kingdom don’t admit that they can’t see the clothing. After an innocent young child blurts out the truth, the ruse falls apart with the emperor and his daughters learning an important lesson in humility.
