Picasso at the Lapin Agile
By Steve Martin
Directed by The Company
Quick & Dead Productions returns to the Madison theatre scene with an all-new production of Steve Martin's light-hearted meditation on the nature of genius.
The play, penned by one of the most famous American comedians of all time, is set in a bar in Paris, 1904. One year later, Albert Einstein would publish the special theory of relativity. Three years later, Pablo Picasso would paint “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.” "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" re-imagines history to shed light on the mysteriously inter-connected nature of beauty and inspiration as it relates to the mundane and the celestial, with a keen-eye for the relationship between the seemingly lofty ideals of intellectuals, and the low-brow outlook of the rest of us.
