Patience, or Bunthorne's Bride

By Gilbert & Sullivan

Directed by Michael Bruno

In December 1881 the D’Oyly Carte company presented Gilbert & Sullivan’s Patience for the first time lit by adjustable electric lights, not only improving safety, but also enhancing the aesthetic of their costumes, scenery, and performance.

Madison Savoyards presents Patience in 2024, continuing that tradition of refinement. Patience invokes themes of the vain, pretentious, and superficial, as well as of simplicity and love; and sheds an entertaining ‘new light’ on our contemporary world.
