Orpheus Returns: Opera for the Young

Opera for the Young brings live, professional opera to audiences of all ages with annual Fall and Spring tours. Students appear onstage in chorus and cameo roles, performing for their peers right alongside OFY's professional artists. All productions are fully staged, sung in English and adapted especially for kids

Orpheus, the mythical singer whose music has magic powers, is called upon to return to the Underworld. On this perilous journey, he is accompanied by his trusty Harp. Their mission: to use the power of song to rescue the world's endangered species from the sinister clutches of Pluto and Persephone. Told through sparkling melody and humor, this adaptation of an age-old story illustrates the universal importance of seeking harmony among living creatures and preserving our fragile environment.
