McBeth

By William Shakespeare; contemporized/adapted by Callen Harty

Directed by Greg Johnson

A man with ambition climbing the corporate ladder encounters some odd women who fill his head with strange prophecies of his rise to the top. His wife, who is as ambitious as he, encourages him to pursue a course that will fulfill the prophecies, even at great risk. Will he do anything for that next promotion?

To close out Broom Street Theater’s 40th anniversary season the theater takes on William Shakespeare’s Scottish masterpiece and turns it into McBeth, a contemporization of the classic work that was adapted by Broom Street Artistic Director Callen Harty and directed by Broom Street veteran actor/director Greg Johnson. Johnson previously directed such Broom Street hits as Greg Harris’ Fire Exit and Christopher Marlowe’s Dr. Faustus. Setting the tragic tale of McBeth on Wall Street viewers will follow McBeth as he climbs up and down the corporate ladder. Colored with themes based on Japanese theater, as well as puppetry, this production will be one viewers won't want to miss and will never forget.

McBeth features 13 actors from around the Madison area including BST veteranss Kate Boomsa, Alex Cotant, N-dig0 Feather, Matt Dahms, Collin Erickson, Eric Futon, Melissa Graham, Linda Hartay, Mayra Rios, Justin Lawfer, Greg Johnson, and newcomers Scott Frazier and Trevor Murray.

The play opens on Friday, October 13 and runs every Friday and Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. for six weeks, through December 20, 2009.
