Makers & Fixers: Celebrating the Can-Do Spirit
By Danielle Dresden
Directed by Francisco Torres
Makers & Fixers: Celebrating the Can-Do Spirit, is a new comedy exploring the way everyday creativity and understanding of human nature can actually make life better.
“Fix it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without,” is supposedly a pioneer motto. Whether European settlers actually stitched this into wall hangings or not, it still reflects a long-lasting strain in the American psyche that transcends demographics and political boundaries.
The rise of maker’s spaces reflects a widespread interest in creating, hacking, and in general MacGyvering our way through life and into a better future.
TNW Ensemble Theater will explore these trends and some of their local manifestations in our next production. We will build on and expand our 38-year practice of creating new works for the theater with development, production, and performance of Makers & Fixers: Celebrating the Can-Do Spirit in November.
