Gertrude Stein and a Companion

By Win Wells

Directed by Autumn Shiley

StageQ is delighted to present Gertrude Stein and A Companion, the Win Wells drama that tells the story of the incredible relationship between Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas.

The play presents snapshots of their relationship across time, spanning the early 1900’s through the 1960’s. It presents excerpts from Gertrude Stein’s own writings and reveals the influence she had on well-known literary and artistic figures, such as Ernest Hemingway and Pablo Picasso.

Gertrude Stein and a Companion and The Story of My Life are running in repertory on the Evjue Stage at the Bartell Theatre, at 113 E Mifflin Street in Madison, from February 8 through March 9.
