Disney's Newsies

Adapted from the Disney film set in New York at the turn of the century, NEWSIES is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged “newsies,” who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right. High-energy with non-stop thrills, the stage version includes eight brand-new songs by the original team of Alan Menken and Jack Feldman while keeping many of the beloved songs from the film such as “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” “King of New York,” and “Santa Fe.”

Auditions

Auditions will be held on the following days:

The Fireside Theatre is looking for energetic, motivated boys age 10-13 who can sing and move and act to play the role of Les in their production of a NEWSIES.

Les is the fearless kid brother of Davey, one of the newsies. He is excited by everything the world has to offer and eager to join in the adventure. Fun is this kid's middle name. Must sing really well. We will cast two boys who will alternate performances.

The show begins rehearsals on February 5, 2018 and runs from February 22 – April 8, 2018. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, January 24 at 6:00 PM at the Fireside Theatre, 1131 Janesville Avenue, Fort Atkinson, WI. Those auditioning should be there no later than 6:00. Latecomers may not be seen.

All those auditioning should prepare a short song and should bring their own sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. Auditioners should bring a current photo that will not be returned. All roles are paid. Any and all further information will be provided at the audition.
