Discovering Austen
By Kristin Hammargren
Directed by Frank Honts
In January 2012, UW M.F.A. Acting student Kristin Hammargren will premiere her original one-woman show Discovering Austen. The play takes place in the dressing room of an actor who has been cast as Jane Austen herself. Still searching for the essence of her character only hours from opening, she explores Austen’s writing in an attempt to find the author in the pages of her novels and letters. Discovering Austen is a wonderful opportunity to see Austen’s characters and the author herself come to life. Kristin is in the final year of her program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Discovering Austen was developed for her MFA thesis. Tickets are free and open to the public but seating is limited so advance reservations are recommended. The show runs from January 26th-28th in the Hemsley Theatre on the UW-Madison campus at 7:30pm. Email discoveringausten@gmail.com for tickets.
