CapitalQ Theatre Festival

StageQ is proud to present the inaugural “CapitalQ Theatre Festival.” A fresh, new spin on the perennial favorite, “Queer Shorts,” this festival runs a single weekend and is filled with new and original short plays and 1-Act Plays submitted from local and national playwrights. Along with FREE theatre workshops and masterclasses open to the public, this weekend will celebrate original queer stories told by up-and-coming queer writers and allow you to learn more about how theatre is made. Be a part of a new Pride Month tradition!

Auditions

Auditions will be held on the following days:

5/18/2022
5/19/2022

StageQ, Inc. will be holding auditions for the CapitalQ New Play Festival, featuring various new plays from national and local playwrights. Performances will be at The Bartell Theatre, from June 24th to June 26th 2022.
WHEN AND WHERE
Auditions will be held May 18th and May 19th at 7 PM at The Bartell Theatre on 113 E Mifflin, Madison, WI 53703.
ROLES
Due to the variety of scripts, there are roles for all ages, genders, and races for this new play festival. There are also several specific roles for BIPOC, transgender and nonbinary actors as well. We strongly encourage actors--queer and non-queer alike, and of all experience levels--who are interested in performing in new short plays to come try out!
AUDITIONS
Auditioners may prepare a monologue or perform a monologue provided by StageQ at the audition.
COVID SAFETY
StageQ and Bartell Theatre policy is that all production staff, crew, and cast meet the CDC’s definition of “fully-vaccinated” by the time rehearsals begin. Those wishing to audition don’t have to provide proof of vaccination status, but if cast, proof must be provided to the producer before the first rehearsal. Those who cannot be vaccinated due to medical reasons or age restrictions will be allowed to participate but are asked to contact the show’s producer ahead of time.
REHEARSALS
The specifics of the rehearsal schedule will be determined by each individual production’s director. However, in general, rehearsals will begin May 21st and be held between the hours of 7 PM and 10 PM. Rehearsal location will be First Congregational at 1609 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53726.
