Beyond The Ingenue: Trailblazers

By Various

Directed by Wendy Jones-Hill, Music Direction by Lisa Erdman

Ingenue: Innocent. Unsophisticated. Naive. Often driven by her need to find a man.

Women deserve better stories.

In 2018, MTM curated a revue called Beyond The Ingenue, which featured songs featuring women’s issues that were not about finding a man or falling in love. This successful revue highlighted issues of motherhood, aging, abuse, workplace politics, and having it all.

In a new iteration, we will tell the stories of historical women who changed the world; the history-makers who paved the way for women to stand up for their beliefs and be themselves. A significant portion of the music will be original, written for the person who is singing it. Other songs will be selected from existing musicals. Join us for a celebration of female-identified trailblazers, told through new and original musical pieces.
