Annie
Directed by Jim Tropp
A Broadway Musical based on the "Little Orphan Annie," Harold Gray's classic American comic strip. It's 1933 and America is deep in the midst of the Great Depression. In New York, the Municipal orphanage, Girl's Annex, has been the home of Annie for all but the first two months of her life. Miss Hannigan is in charge of the orphanage. Annie escapes by hiding in a laundry bag that is loaded in a truck. Annie ventures out to find her parents.
Annie finds her way to Hooverville, a depression-style shanty town that is home to an assortment of unemployed New Yorkers. The Police raid the town and Annie is arrested and returned to the orphanage. Back at the orphanage Miss Grace Farrell, the private secretary of Oliver Warbucks, the billionaire industrialist decides to invite an orphan to spend the Christmas holidays at home and Annie is the chosen one.
Filled with music and comedy, this musical is a delight for all ages.
