A Chorus Line

Music by Marvin Hamlisch, Book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante

Directed by Thomas J. Kasdorf & Mathew Starika-Jolivet

A CHORUS LINE is a stunning musical-verite about a chorus audition for a Broadway musical. It tells of the achingly poignant ambitions of professional Broadway gypsies to land a job in the show, and is a powerful metaphor for all human aspiration. Memorable musical numbers include I Can Do That, At the Ballet, Dance: Ten; Looks: Three, The Music and the Mirror, What I Did for Love, One (Singular Sensation) and I Hope I Get It. It is a brilliantly complex fusion of dance, song and compellingly authentic drama.

All roles for A CHORUS LINE are open. We are seeking 20-30 dancer/singer/actors (must pass for ages 18-35) for a wide range of roles. The ability to sing in a ¡§pop¡¨ musical theatre style and dance training/ability is needed. Actors of diverse backgrounds are highly encouraged to audition.

VIDEO AUDITION SUBMISSION:
If you will be unable to attend one of our general call auditions, you may submit a video audition. For a chorus line, you¡¦re video needs to contain your two songs as described above. The first step is to contact us at mptauditions@gmail.com and request an audition application. You will also need to request instructions for the dance portion of the video. Our choreographer will contact you with those instructions. (You must submit a dance portion on your video to be considered for a role in A CHORUS LINE.)

TIPS:

1.) THE VERY BEST¡XYour video may be the only chance for you to show us what you¡¦ve got! In a regular, in-person audition, you have one shot. With a video, you can take as many ¡§shots¡¨ as you need. Take multiple shots and send us the best one you have.

2.) SOUND BALANCE¡XIt is important that we be able to hear you. Making sure you are not too far away from the camera (or too close to the camera) will help, especially if you are not using a microphone. Also make sure the camera isn¡¦t too close to your piano, otherwise the accompaniment will overpower the sound.

3.) WE NEED TO SEE YOU¡XWhether it¡¦s for the vocal audition or for the dance portion, we need to be able to see you. For you vocal audition, make sure you are centered in the frame. It¡¦s not necessary for us to see you from head to toe, but we¡¦d like to see as much of you as possible, without harming the sound quality. For your dance audition, make sure the camera is set back far enough that you never dance out of frame. For this portion, we do need to see you from head to toe at all times.

4.) SLATE YOURSELF¡XAt the beginning of both sections of the video, please make sure you tell us your name and the show you are auditioning for. (If you are only auditioning for a specific role, please tell us that role.)

WAYS TO SUBMIT YOUR VIDEO:

All submissions must be received by February 13, 2014 to ensure we will be able to view your submission for consideration.

EMAIL¡XIf you are recording your submission digitally, you can send your file to mptauditions@gmail.com. Your file needs to be a compatible file type (.mov, .mp4, ,m4v, .mpg, etc.). We have to be able to easily open your video file.

ONLINE¡XYou can post your video on YouTube or a similar site. Simply send us the link.
