The United Arts Alliance 608-752-8406 |
The United Arts Alliance was organized in 1996 to support excellence in area performing and fine arts, to encourage participation and appreciation of the arts, and to encourage development of a civic/arts center for Janesville. UAA was the catalyst to the development of the Janesville Performing Arts Center in the old Marshall High School and continues its work today publishing ArtsRock that is distributed throughout Rock County, as well as being a strong, collective voice for artists and nonprofit arts organizations. Membership is available to all interested individuals and arts organizations by calling 608-752-8406.

Busker Project Seeks Applicants
The United Arts Alliance (UAA) is expanding opportunities for local artists by encouraging performers of every type to apply to become a Janesville busker this summer. "Busking" is a centuries-old art of street performing for public enjoyment while earning voluntary donations. Buskers can include, but are not limited to, musicians, dancers, magicians, jugglers, acrobats, clowns, street theater, puppeteers and more.
Under the United Arts Alliance's nonprofit "umbrella", member performers may hone their skills, perform in downtown public locations, develop their own audiences, build coalitions with other performers and groups, and retain 100% of any performance free-will donations they receive. Buskers will also receive advance publicity and promotion of their performances by the UAA.
Performance dates and times for 2008 are flexible but will be coordinated around other existing downtown Janesville summer events such as the Saturday Farmer's Markets and Leisure Service activities during the week.
