Much Ado About Nothing

By Shakespeare

Directed by Mrs. Phyllis Rice

Leonato, the Governor of Messina, welcomes back from the wars the Prince Don Pedro, two young noblemen Claudio and Benedick, and the Prince's half-brother, Don John. Claudio soon finds himself hopelessly in love with Leonato's short daughter, Hero, so the Prince aids in matchmaking and helps Claudio win sweet Hero's hand in marriage. Don John, consumed with covert anger toward the Prince and his two young noblemen, is bent on whatever mischief he can use to undo the match. Benedick, a confirmed opponent of love, and Leonato's niece Beatrice, who is of like mind, are both tricked into believing that each is secretly in love with the other. The ensuing encounters between the two young couples bring one of Shakespeare's most entertaining comedies to its unavoidable end!
