Overcoats
Two original storytelling stage adaptations of Nikolai Gogol's The Overcoat and Anton Chekov's The Harmfulness of Tobacco presented by The Blissters (as in bliss). These are two tragic tales from the lives of two social misfits in 19th century Russia. David Marshack, translator, says, "Gogol draws the character of the inoffensive civil servant, the hero of The Overcoat, with a compassion, simplicity, gentleness, humor and seeming casualness of style that makes it one of the greatest achievements of his genius. In Chekov's tragic comedy a scientific lecture becomes a metaphor for the fragile human condition lying behind the pretensions and protective coverings of a threadbare overcoat.
