An Evening of New Works

This performance is a dynamic collection of new and original choreography performed by the Dance Wisconsin Company. This year's show will include the world premier of a work created by one of Los Angeles' hottest choreographers, Liz Imperio. Ms. Imperio is the founder and artistic director of Instincts Live Media Dance Company, which has been  featured at the World Jazz Dance Congress in '99, '00, '01, and '02. After Dance Wisconsin performs the premier of her new piece, Ms. Imperio's internationally recognized company will take to the stage for their Madison debut. 

Next, the show will feature a spectacular and patriotic ballet entitled "Stars and Stripes," choreographed by artistic director Jo Jean Retum and Cincinnati Ballet's Jason Cisler. The pace will then change dramaticaly with a collage of three duets accompanied on stage by a live pianist in the dramatic ballet, "Colors of Life," Choreographed by Jo Jean retum with an original score by Madison's Taras Nahirniak.

Lastly, the show will feature two new and innovative modern works; "Horizon," Choreographed by karen English Smith, and "Run With Scissors," Created by Andre Tyson. Before joining the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Mr. Tyson was a former principal dancer and company teacher with the internationaly recognised and acclaimed Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
