Children's Theater Actors - (posted 12/10/05 by Oogles n Googles)

$12.00 per program + ability to earn additional commissions (Dane County).

Oogles n Googles is the area's leading provider of 'edutaining' enrichment programs for children. We need several actors to 1) PERSUADE AREA CHILD CARE CENTER DIRECTORS to add our high-energy monthly enrichment programs to the center's extra-curricular offerings, and 2) LEAD our high-energy programs at those child care centers. Please check out our website at www.ooglesngoogles.com for more detailed information on our enrichment programs and our culture.

In general, I need actors who are not intimidated by the thought of promoting/marketing our programs to area child care center directors (from a list of pre-selected prospects) and who aspire to be a "local celebrity" in the children's entertainment market. Commissions can be earned based upon the number of centers you bring on board and the number of children signed up at each center. This will require charm, an outgoing personality, an enthusiasm for making money, a sincere demeanor, and a respect for children.

You must also be dependable, energetic, willing to be zany, willing to sing, willing to dance, and be able to tell animated stories - capturing and holding the kids' attention for at least 35 - 40 minutes with your winning personality! Most programs are held in the mornings between 9:00 and 11:00. Each program is themed and scripted. You will be required to learn one 40-minute script per month (which you may perform as many as 15-20 times per month depending on the number of child care centers enrolled in our programs for a particular month). Other requirements include: reliable transportation and the ability to successfully complete a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug test.

If you are the right person for this job, I guarantee you will find it rewarding and exciting. Hearing a child's hearty laugh can truly make your day!

Interested parties should send a resume, bio, and letter of interest to Brenda Murty, Chief FUN Officer, Oogles n Googles at oogles@charter.net or 1704 Ashlawn Lane, Waunakee, WI 53597

or electronically at any time.

Blitz and Smackdown are the most FANTASTIC days of the year! This is
the event that got me hooked on Mercury Players and the Madison
Theatre Community - and this is truly a COMMUNITY THEATRE EVENT!!

No experience needed - just a lot of heart and gumption!

What will be expected of each position:
Playwrights: Will be given challenges to direct their work and must
produce a 10 page play between 8 pm and 7 am. Veteran Blitz Mentors
will be provided.

Directors: Will need to think on their feet and foster a positive
actor experience. Commitment is from 9 am until 8 pm each day.

Sound Design: Pull stock effects, organize pre-, post-, and
intermission sound design. Possible live mics. Will work with all
directors to efficiently produce sound for each production. Will be
responsible for loading in and striking equipment (with a crew)

Lighting Design and Crew: Lighting wil work as a team across the week
of load-in and over the two days of performance. Daily designers wil
be responsible for delivering simple lighting effects for each
individual play. Cannot be afraid of heights :)

Set Designers: Very little construction. Mostly pulled from Mercury
Warehouse, but must be able to creatively streamline elements across a
number of productions. Will have crew.

Costume Designers and Crew: Always one of the most challenging BLITZ
jobs! Friday could have 30 actors, Saturday could have 50. A "Bring
these clothing pieces" sheet goes out to all actors before BLITZ. Most
others will be pullled from the Mercury Warehouse or other costume
sources. If you have an eye for style, an ability to improvise, or can
sew, WE NEED YOU!!

Props Designers: Canny, scrappy problem-solvers needed for this gig!
Mercury has a large stock of props, and other props houses will be
made available. Coordinate props across all shows. Create props table
for each night.

Backstage Crew: Super fun gig! You get to sleep in, but will be
striking on the Saturday performance!

Choreographer - (posted 2/7/10)

My name is Alexis Lepperd and I am interested in doing choreographic work in southern Wisconsin and/or northern Illinois. This can be anything from one day workshops for summer camp to choreographing high school musicals to setting works for a company. I'm open to new ideas and challenges!

I have over 20 years of formal dance education including a Bachelor's Degree in Dance Therapy. My education includes ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, modern, improvisation, composition/choreography, hula, competitive dance, and musical theatre. I was an assistant dance instructor from the ages of 12 to 18 and have been teaching for nearly 10 years on my own for various studios in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. I am also a member of Dance Masters of Wisconsin and the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters.

I am currently on staff at a dance studio but am looking to increase my time spent doing dance related work, since it is what I love.

Please contact me at 608-201-0010 or GroovyGirl623@yahoo.com. I look forward to hearing from you!

We plan to undertake the production aspects, publicity, etc with your support. We would like this to be a collaborative effort!

If your theatre company would be interested in hosting this production and lending a hand of support, please contact us at batboymadison@gmail.com

Set Design/Construction - (posted 11/16/09)

I am seeking an opportunity to do set design and construction. I have done stage crew in the past with Madison Theater Guild and fell in love with the theater atmosphere!

I have my Masters in Architecture from UW-Milawukee. My thesis investigated experiential qualities of space. I believe with my background in architectural design, I have a lot of resources to draw from that would carry over in set design and construction.

Please email me at aac2@uwm.edu or call me at (920) 210.9135 (cell).

Painter/Crew Member - (posted 11/11/09)

I have been a big fan of drawing, painting and anything art-related ever since I was a wee little kid. And from experience in high school and college, I've grown to love the theater atmosphere. I am a recent graduate (May 2009) of UW-Madison majoring in Art with several theater classes on my transcript. I would love to help out in the theater - work or volunteer - with what I love to do most.

bassist, steel guitarist, dobro (resophonic guitar) - (posted 2/20/09)

Thank you so much for your valuable time to read my request to be a part of your show as an electric bass, upright bassist, steel guitar player, or dobro (resophonic guitar) player. My goal is to show you that I am a well qualified player and will be able to satisfy your request that you seek for this type of player.

I’ve been playing bass, dobro and steel guitar since 1983, studying under Eddie Rivers, steel player 9-time Grammy winning band, Asleep at the Wheel, and am well adapted to reading chord charts and can work well with those who I play with. I’ve played in pit bands and music ensembles since 1985, and have won national awards for my ability, and have done steel work on songs charting as high as #5 on the Christian Country Music Association’s top 100. It’s been a privilege for me to also perform at various shows, including the “Always..Patsy Cline” show at the The Armory in Janesville, WI, and performing on stage at the Grand Theatre, Wausau, WI.

Please contact me at 715.612.0648 for any inquiries whatsoever.

Again, thank you for your time.

Singing Opportunities - (posted 6/26/07)

I have been singing in various choral groups for ~14 years, have been doing high-school through community theatre for 8 years. I am looking for community theatre/choral /a-capella/barbershop groups in the Janesville/Beloit area. I am not looking for paid parts, I just enjoy singing, and miss it since I have moved to Janesville from Wisconsin. I'm 24, 5'4" (I can pass for 16), and can sing 2nd Bass up to 2nd Tenor. Have been known to squeak out 1st Tenor, though Bass is my comfort zone.

I can be contacted at shan@iotashan.com

Thanks, Shannon Hicks
