The Trip to Bountiful

By Horton Foote

Directed by Denise Plantenberg in collaboration with Dave Bristow

Fearing that her presence may be an imposition on others, and chafing under the watchful eye of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Watts imagines that if she can get away and return to her old home in the town of Bountiful, she is sure to regain her strength, dignity and peace of mind. So she attempts to run away making a lonely pilgrimage to the scene of her old home. But when she arrives, things are not what she expected. Now she must reconcile the beautiful rural home of her memories with the family she has gained since she left.

The source of the film starring Geraldine Page and recently revived in a Tony Award winning production on Broadway, THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL is a touching and engaging story about the true meaning of home.
