The Norman Conquests: Table Manners, Living Together, Round & Round The Garden

By Alan Ayckbourn

Directed by Jeff Knupp

This sidesplitting farce explodes with lust, hysterics, and exasperation as three couples share a weekend in search of love, sex, and the meaning of marriage. Winner of the Tony Award Best Revival of a Play and the Outer Critics Circle Outstanding Revival.

Auditions

Auditions will be held at 7pm on the following days:
Mon. 9/27 and Tue. 9/28 (Callbacks on 9/29 if necessary)
Location: Bartell Theatre, 113 E. Mifflin, Madison

All auditioners: Please read the following note from the director....

"The early audition dates ( the production opens January 13th),  are necessary because Stroller's is producing the full three-play version in rotating rep.  Actors need to commit to rehearsing and learning three, 90-100 minute plays.  Rehearsals will start on Monday October, 18th.  There will be appropriate time off around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

There are parts for three men and three women, with standard British accents.  Age ranges could vary from 30s to early 50s depending upon the actors who audition, and the general make-up of the final ensemble.

I realize everyone will be making a big time commitment but the rehearsals will be fun, and I had a great time acting in the three plays at Madison Rep in 1988.   In addition, this experience will provide a challenge for Madison's actors who take their craft very seriously, and are looking for a high level of  professionalism in a rotating rep setting.

Actors will be asked to read from the script.  A limited number of scripts will be available from the Bartell Theatre office shortly after Labor Day.  Some scripts are available through the Madison Public Library, and most large bookstores can obtain a copy for you if you wish to purchase a script for your own library.  I also suggest that actors check the Internet for background info on Alan Ayckbourn, and the three plays:  "Table Manners," "Living Together," and "Round And Round The Garden."

I'm looking forward to seeing many old and new faces at the auditions in September, and working with six  talented actors after casting.  Thanks."
