"The Giver"

By Eric Coble, based on Lois Lowry's book

Directed by Norman McPhee

Jonas lives in a regulated, safe society that has eliminated war, pain and all else that might cause dissension, including emotions, color and choice. Everyone is assigned a role at age 12. Jonas is selected to succeed The Giver, the person who retains memories of life before "Sameness." As Jonas gains knowledge and feelings, he sees the hypocrisy of his utopian world. Will he take control of his own destiny?
