The Flying Dutchman

By Richard Wagner

Directed by Michael Scarola

The Flying Dutchman marks Madison Opera’s much anticipated first staging of an opera by Richard Wagner. Considered Wagner’s most accessible opera, the legend of the wandering sailor will look and sound spectacular on the Overture Hall stage with Giles Cadle’s stunning set designs and Maestro John DeMain at the helm of the magnificent score. Renowned artists Turid Karlsen (Turandot, 2004) and Bardley Garvin lead a stellar cast that includes Arnold Rawls (Madama Butterfly, 2008), Julia Faulkner (The Tender Land, 2008) and Dean Peterson. Michael Scarola (Rigoletto, 2006, Lucia di Lammermoor, 2008) directs this Madison Opera premiere.
