SMART PEOPLE
By Lydia Diamond
Directed by Chuck Smith
What to do when you are smarter than everyone around you but no one wants to work with you? How do you make it on your own in a profession that spits out new darlings every day? Can you relate to someone even if you don’t speak their language? Is there a connection between scientific research and racism? Four stories are at the center of Lydia Diamond’s SMART PEOPLE. Can racism be hard-wired into our genetics? Most people would say no. But what if you had proo? What if you had solid evidence to back up that claim but no one wanted to listen. What happens then? Renowned Chicago director Chuck Smith helms this challenging new play by one of America’s leading female playwrights.
