Each audition appointment will last 5 minutes.

About the production: Performances are March 6 – 15, 2015. Fridays and Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm. There’s a possible school performance scheduled mid-day Wednesday, March 11, 2015. All performances are in the Mitby Theater, Madison College. Romeo & Juliet is set in the original time period.

What to prepare: Actors should prepare a 1-2 minute monologue of blank verse from any Shakespeare play. Monologues from Romeo and Juliet are allowed. Please do not select a sonnet. The audition piece must be “performance ready,” meaning it is memorized, the character is fully developed and you are ready for an audience.

Casting: Looking for 15 – 20 actors ages teens – 60’s. All ages and ethnicities encouraged to audition. Casting is open to all actors but Madison College students will be given priority. (The role of Friar Lawrence has been precast.)

Rehearsal schedule summary: There are two Shakespeare workshops that all company members are strongly encouraged to attend. Saturday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 20. Workshop leader is Jim Ridge, American Players company member.

Rehearsals begin Wednesday, January 14th at 6:00 pm and will be Sunday afternoons (specific times to be determined) and Mondays through Thursdays from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. This is a summary of the rehearsal schedule - the final rehearsal schedule will include a scene breakdown. Actors will only be called for scenes they are in. Actors must be available the weekend of Saturday, Feb. 28th and Sunday, Feb. 29th for tech rehearsals.
All rehearsals will be in the Studio Theater at Madison College Truax campus – 1701 Wright Street, Madison, WI 53704.
