Auditions

Auditions will be held on the following days:

6/22/2015
6/23/2015

Auditions June 22 & 23 at 6pm. Zona Gale Youth Theatre invites you to come try out for this amazing Off Broadway Musical. I know you all know Maurice Sendak’s work because he wrote Where The Wild Things Are. Told you! Since it’s a musical, actors must be able to sing. Two of the characters, Rosie and Kathy, must be able to belt or have a strong top end. Here are the main characters with descriptions and age range. Casting will be a search for FIVE actors that can be available to rehearse on the same schedule. Other Nutshell Neighborhood Kids will not need to be at nearly as many rehearsals, more toward the end. How many we cast as Nutshell Kids depends how well the song and dance auditions go. Here are characters descriptions and age range for the lead five roles:

Lead Roles with several solos each:
ROSIE - Bossy, wants to be a movie director, huge imagination. Casting range with best voice between ages 10-15.
KATHY - Rosie's sidekick and secretary who longs to be Rosie and a star. Casting range with best voice between 10-15.
PIERRE – Bad attitude teen who keeps saying: “I don’t care” all the time. Casting range 13-16.
JOHNNY - Shy and A Bit Nerdy. Casting range 9-13.
ALLIGATOR - Kathy's little Sister who actually believes she is an alligator. Casting range 8-13.
Small Supporting Roles:
CHICKEN SOUP - Rosie's little brother who runs away.
OTHER ROLES - Rosie, Johnny and Kathy's Mothers and a small chorus of Nut Shell Neighborhood Kids. (Mothers are only heard shouting at the kids. Prerecorded.)

REHEARSALS will begin mid July after Youth Theatre, but will NOT be rehearsing every day until the late August when crunch time begins. Again, rehearsal schedules will be built around Shelly Pare and the Cast’s availability

LISTEN to the Broadway Cast sing the songs: http://dragonandrose.net/rosie/ Notice: LEARN THE LYRICS of songs here: http://www.songlyrics.com/carole-king/really-rosie-ost/ These are young actors, but most productions of Really Rosie use teen and/or adult actors in these roles and then perform for public and school shows.
Here are the 13 songs and musical numbers we will use in the show. You will notice in the Broadway recording, there are 24 tracks and that is because the recording included both songs and scenes, so you can actually listen to the entire show by listening to them all – lines and lyrics
Most songs include the entire Ensemble at some point of most songs, but most songs feature one character, not all, but most.
