Our American Cousin

By Tom Taylor

Directed by Steve Berg

The play is a farcical comedy in three acts. The play tells the story of an awkward, roughspun but honest hearted American who travels to England to claim his inheritance and meet his doddering aristocratic English relatives. The play premiered in New York in 1858.

Halfway through Act 3, Scene 2, in Ford's Theatre in Washington D.C. on April 14, 1865, John Wilkes Booth fatally wounded President Abraham Lincoln. 2015 marks the 150th anniversary of President Lincoln's assassination.
