Love Thy Neighbor

By Gary Ray Stapp

Directed by Larry Whitman and Lisa Vann

Armed with a sharp judgmental attitude and binoculars homeowner Leona is consumed with anxiety over her new neighbors. Will they be beatniks, drug pushers, or more frightening, perhaps they have children? Her worst fears are realized when an odd-ball "hill-folk" family moves in across the street. She realizes even her psychic Sabrina can't prepare her for the showdowns that end up in her own living room and cul de sac. Gafina, an obnoxious gum-chewin woman and her "Maw", the hillbetty crone, Gafina's simple-minded love struck boyfriend, Turner, and her trampy sister Bambi turn Leona's life upside down. Adding to her exasperation are her lazy couch potato husband, Albert, an annoying Avon sales rep, an airhead neighbor and her husband who raids Leona's food pantry, a bumbling police officer, cutthroat mailman, and pestering paperboy. Can she convince these atrocities to leave her cul de sac? Pink flamingos threaten to push her to the limit in this laugh a minute comedy.

Auditions

Auditions will be held on the following days:

Auditions will be open until March 8th by calling 715-366-2941 Extension 310 and requesting an audition. We still need 2 adult males and 2 adult females.

Leona Crump
A sour, judgmental snoop and champion marigold horticulturalist that thrives on being a constant critic of etiquette enforcing her opinions on her environment and neighbors.

Judy Harrison
Judy is super sweet and even more super clueless. So naive, but bless her heart she tolerates Leona... that or she doesn’t know what Leona is saying. In either case, a real sweetie.

Bambi
Bambi never speaks..well... unless you count body language. Then she speaks volumes.

Albert
Leona’s husband who is a retired military man that now prefers peace and quiet to chaos and Leona’s banter.

Rose Bush
Rose is a successful eccentric real estate pro whose trademark is a rosebush. She’s a thorn in Leona’s side with the clientele she shows homes to near Leona’s home.

Ava
Ava is saleswoman not afraid of Leona’s commentary and matches her in crude comments.

Mawtilda Feeshenslelbafield
Mawtilda is the intrusive hillbilly mother of Gafina with big fake teeth Mr. Ed would appreciate and hygiene “oh natural.”

Paul Harrison
Clueless Judy’s husband who likes to spell out homophones to show his nerdy prowess while he visits Leona’s kitchen for sustenance.

George
Mailman who is easy-going but snaps up every opportunity to subtly get Leona’s goat.

Gafina Hambefferschmidt
Leona’s gaudy new neighbor with an obviously different slant on life than Leona had wanted in a new neighbor.

Turner
Gafina’s simple-minded boyfriend who courts Leona.

Officer Frank or Francis Doonan
Takes job super seriously but could easily use another semester at police academy.
