Auditions

General Info:
Casting 3 sopranos (Gretel), 3 mezzo-sopranos (Hansel), 3 mezzo-sopranos (Mother/Witch), 3 baritones (Father/Witch)
Cast members will tour to elementary schools across the upper Midwest and are responsible for driving the tour van, loading and unloading the set, and fielding audience questions following each performance. Additionally, at each school they will prepare students to be angerls, gingerbreads cookies and ragamuffins. There are typically 2 shows/day and 7-10 shows/week. Compensation is $52-55 per show plus $27 per diem and lodging while on tour. Each artist receives lodging and $350 stipend for rehearsal week, which is in early October. Tour runs from October-November 2011 and January-May 2012.

A $20 application fee, payable to Opera for the Young

We will send you:
An audition date and time.
Musical excerpts from our adaptation of Hansel & Gretel
A monologue or dialogue to prepare.

Please also prepare:
An opera or oratorio aria or art song in English
An opera aria in original language that showcases the best qualities of your singing and musicianship.
