Auditions for the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre’s production of HAIRSPRAY will be held Sunday, August 29, and Monday, August 30, at 7:00 p.m. at ECCT, 1814 Oxford Avenue, Eau Claire. Performers auditioning for leading roles should prepare a one-minute cutting from any Broadway song. Those interested in the singing/dancing chorus will be asked to sing a familiar song. An accompanist will be provided. Those auditioning should come dressed to dance, and some may be asked to read from the script. Roles are available for fourteen multicultural performers, including Seaweed, Little Inez, Motormouth Maybelle, and singers/dancers, and twenty Caucasian performers, including Tracy, Edna, Link, Corny Collins, Velma, Penny, and singers/dancers, ages high school to adult. Rehearsals will be held Monday-Thursday, September 1-October 20, from 7:00-9:30 p.m. with some weekend dance rehearsals. Performances are planned for October 21-24 at the State Theatre.
