By Ron Osborne
Directed by Janet McLean
La Crosse, WI - 02/16/2015 - La Crosse Community Theatre will bring to the stage the drama First Baptist of Ivy Gap by Ron Osborne, beginning Friday, March 20, and continuing through Sunday, March 29, 2015. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. and will be in the Lyche Theatre of the Weber Center for the Performing Arts.
First Baptist of Ivy Gap begins during WWII, with six women who gather at the local church to roll bandages for the Red Cross. Together they share their hopes and fears for the future. Reuniting 25 years later, they confront truths that shake friendships formed over a quarter of a century. With humor and pathos, these very different women find comfort, forgiveness, and redemption in each other.
Guest director Janet McClean will be making her LCT stage debut. An Associate Professor of Theatre & Music Theatre, McLean leads the Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and the Bachelor of Science in Theatre Education programs at Viterbo University. Her expertise is in dramatic literature and theatre history, with a particular focus on multicultural and women's issues as portrayed through American drama. Her appreciation of the American South and interest in American history makes First Baptist of Ivy Gap particularly appealing to her.
Cast members include Patty Nix as Luby, Katie Reischl as Olene, Erin C.J. Haney as Mae Ellen, Lynn Oldenburg as Edith, Elissa Wolf as Sammy, and Lisa K. Adams as Vera.
The First Baptist of Ivy Gap production team also will includes set/lighting design by Dillon McArdle, costume design by Mandy Parmeter, stage management by Samantha Abplanalp and direction assistance by Annamarie Sullivan.
