Faust
By Charles Gounod
Directed by Bernard Uzan
While Madison Opera has already been called "the hottest ticket in town," the temperature is sure to get even warmer when FAUST ignites the Overture Hall stage in May. In the most popular setting of Goethe's dramatic deal with the devil, this monumental tale is nowhere better served than by Gounod's soaring melodies and luscious orchestration in this true "grand" opera. French conductor Laurent Campellone (THE PEARL FISHERS '07) returns to Madison Opera to lead an international cast featuring tenor David Lomeli as Faust, soprano Jill Garner as Marguerite, and David Pittsinger as Mephistopheles in a production by acclaimed director Bernard Uzan.
