Cancer Stories

By Talish Barrow & Mike Lawler with the members of Wisconsin Story Project

Directed by Talish Barrow

TRUE STORIES. REAL THEATER.

Cancer Stories is the debut theatrical event of the Wisconsin Story Project.

According to the American Cancer Society there were 27,560 new cases of cancer in Wisconsin in 2009. Wisconsin Story Project spent the year conducting interviews in Dane county with some of the people who know what it means to be part of those statistics. From these interviews, using the true stories, experiences, and the words they heard, they wrote the play Cancer Stories, an exploration of what it means to be ill, what it means to survive and what it means to be human.
