Bare: A Pop Musical

"Bare" is a rock musical with a book by Jon Hartmere, Jr. and Damon Intrabartolo, lyrics by Hartmere and music by Intrabartolo. The story focuses on two gay high school students and their struggles at their private, Catholic boarding school. The show has been compared to Spring Awakening or Rent with a modern rock score and dealing with issues such as sexual identity, drug abuse, teen suicide and self-image.

Looking for 16-20 actors of various races/body types for Bare: The Pop Musical. All roles will sing and dance.

Auditions held at the Bartell Theatre, 113 E Mifflin Street in Madison. Sunday, December 14 and Monday December 15 at 7pm each night.

Roles Available:

The Students (Catholic High School):

Peter: introspective, Jason's boyfriend
Ivy: pretty, popular, insecure
Nadia: Jason's pudgy, sarcastic twin sister
Matt: jock, Jason's rival
Lucas: stoner
Tanya: African-American, Lucas's girlfriend
Kyra: African-American, sexy
Diane: Asian, very naive
Rory: sarcastic
Zack: jock
Alan: nerdy
The role of Jason has been cast.

The Adults:

Claire: Peter's mother
Sister Chantelle: African-American nun
Priest: headmaster of St. Cecilia's

3-6 ensemble students.

Due to the subject matter and language, no one under 18 will be cast.

Actors will be asked to prepare 16 bars from a rock musical. Please bring sheet music. Music Director Meghan Rose will accompany. Dress to move. You will be taught a dance number to perform in addition to singing.

Cut: his verse in the middle section
"the church's teachings come from centuries of study" until "if you hold to her creed, you will never find yourself let down"

ALL OTHER ROLES AND CHORUS-ONLY AUDITIONS:
Prepare a 1-minute cut of any song a cappella (or bringing your own accompanist is okay too).
