Middleton School of Performing Arts is a performing arts community.  It is our goal to provide quality music and theatre instruction and to provide a community space to use for recitals, concerts, art exhibits, parties, workshops and more. 

We welcome all ages and levels of experience and incorporate all types and styles of music and theatre.  You are welcome to come in and tour our facility or visit with one of our instructors about defining or re-defining your plan.

Musical Theatre Camp - starts 8/4/08

Musical Theatre Camp
August 4-15
Ages: 4th - 7th Grade

Pete Rydberg and J.S. Fauquet haven't agreed on a title, but the best director and musical director in town will work up a show in two weeks. Students will learn techniques for singing musical theatre, dance combinations, and character development while rehearsing a musical which will have a public performance on August 14.

Time: 9:30-3:30
Cost: $450, or $400 if registered by July 1

Make-A-Play Workshop - starts 6/30/08

Make-A-Play Workshop
June 30-July 18
Ages: 1st - 6th Grades

This three-week workshop will empower students to ignite imagination and ensemble development as they conceive, design, and perform a theatrical performance with music in a collaborative and creative setting. Using skills developed at American Players Theatre and UW-Madison Theatre for Young Audiences programs, this fantastically wild ride will be chaperoned by Pete Rydberg and J.S. Fauquet. Performance will take place on July 17.

Time: 9:00-12:00
Cost: $285, or $250 if registered by June 15

Beginner�s Drama Day Camp - starts 6/16/08

Beginner's Drama Day Camp
June 16-20
Ages: 1st-5th Grade

Modeled after last summer's immense success, this week-long camp is designed for those with minimal experience in theatre. Students develop skills in stage direction, voice and movement, improvisation, Shakespeare, and musical theatre in a single week! Directed by Pete Rydberg.

Time: 9:30-3:30
Cost: $225, or $200 if registered by June 1

Private Acting Classes - Ongoing

Middleton School of the Performing Arts is pleased to announce it's Fall session of Private Acting Classes. Taught by Pete Rydberg, the Director of Theatre at Middleton School of Performing Arts. He served as Artistic Director for Mercury Players Theatre in Madison from 2003-2007. Locally he has directed Lee Blessing's "Chesapeake," Jane Martin's "Cementville," Terrence McNally's "Corpus Christi," and Jill Morley's "True Confessions of a Go-go Girl," Paula Vogel's "the long christmas ride home" and Kevin Murphy & Dan Studney�s "Reefer Madness � The Musical," among others. He is currently pursuing his PhD at UW-Madison.

Private Lessons are available to anyone regardless of age and experience, but a strong interest in learning and experiencing theatre arts is a must. Private lessons include a 45 minute one on one session, once a week, and a hour and a half group session with all of the private acting students once a week on Thursday nights. A four week session cost $150, and the group lesson is included with that fee. Call us at 831-8222 for more information!

Youth and Adult Drama Classes - Ongoing

Tackling the works of Shakespeare to American Girl plays, and even the occasional romp through deep space. The classes are taught by Pete Rydberg, a recent Masters graduate in Theatre, and current PhD student in Theatre for Young Audiences, also serving as the Artistic Director of Mercury Players Theatre from 2002-2007.

1st-3rd grade Drama

Voice and Instrumental Lessons - Ongoing

MSOPA offers voice, piano, violin, Suzuki violin, fiddle, viola, bass, guitar, saxophone, clarinet, and all other school band instruments. The lessons are available between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and are taught by qualified, energetic supportive instructors.
