Founded in 1984, Island Players is entering its 22nd year as a non-profit community theater on Washington Island. It is the smallest community theater in the state of Wisconsin, yet has entered competitions against urban and suburban theater groups sponsored by the American Association of Community Theaters, each year achieving both placement and individual awards. It has benefitted from grants from the Peninsula Arts Association, the Wisconsin Sesquicentennial Commission, the Wisconsin Humanities Council, various private funding sources as well as from loyal and growing membership.
