Central Wisconsin Area Community Theater
Ltd. 715-341-6744 (info) |
In 1973, Dr. Tom O'Malley saw a need in the community for an amateur theater group. He, along with the help of other community minded individuals, soon established the Area Community Theater or ACT. In 1980 the group became incorporated as a tax-exempt, non-profit enterprise. The name officially changed to Central Wisconsin Area Community Theater, Ltd. or cwACT.
cwACT aims to provide quality entertainment for the community, and the opportunity to participate in quality theater to as many people as possible. Community volunteers select, produce, and fund cwACT plays, endeavoring to provide shows the community wants to see, and to promote community involvement.
Every year, cwACT produces three plays at the spacious Sentry Theater, Stevens Point. The season consists of a musical and a variety of two other plays. Usually a comedy and a drama. Sometimes cwACT produces an original summer play as a fund raiser.
